Katherine Morgan directs the choirs at Collin College, including  Expressions, the Jazz Choir, Chamber Singers and Chorale., and teaches classes in Music Appreciation, Music Theory, Beginning Conducting and Aural Skills. In addition, she maintains her own private piano studio in Plano. Kathy received the Outstanding Fine Arts Faculty from CCCC in 2001 and went on to win the Outstanding Faculty in January 2002. Her education background includes Bachelors and Masters of Arts from the University of California, Riverside in Music Theory and Composition and a Masters of Music from Indiana University in Choral Conducting. While in California she was a fulltime faculty member at the Webb Schools where she directed the Concert Choir, the Women's Choir and the Jazz Choir and directing the school musicals. She recently completed the coursework for the PhD in Musicology at the University of North Texas, in Denton where she performed with Canticum Novum under Hal Gibbons and she directed an early music vocal ensemble, Vox Populi. She is a member of the International Association of Jazz Educators and the American Choral Directors Association. She has worked as an adjudicator for CCCC’s annual Jazz Festival for high school big bands and jazz choirs as well as adjudicating nationally and internationally for the Performing Arts Consultants music festivals.
